Long-Term Refractive Outcomes Of Inverted Meniscus Intraocular Lenses

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term visual outcomes and refractive stability of two models of the novel non-diffractive inverted meniscus intraocular lenses (IOLs), ArtIOLs®40 EDF and ArtIOLs®70 Full Visual Range (ArtIOLs®, Voptica SL, Murcia, Spain), specifically designed to enhance visual performance at all distances and improve
visual quality in the periphery.
Setting: Oftalvist Murcia, Spain
Methods: A total of 31 eyes implanted with ArtIOLs®70 and 84 eyes implanted with ArtIOLs®40 were evaluated. Postoperative spherical equivalent (SE), monocular best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) at 1–2 months (Visit 1) were compared to those at 9–31 months (Visit 2).
Results: Eyes implanted with ArtIOLs®70 showed an absolute difference in SE ± SD of 0.19 ± 0.18 D between the two visits. The differences in UCVA and BCVA were -0.02 ± 0.08 and -0.01 ± 0.07, respectively. Similarly, eyes implanted with ArtIOLs®40 showed an absolute SE ± SD difference of 0.20 ± 0.19 D between visits, with UCVA and BCVA differences of -0.02 ± 0.08 and -0.02 ± 0.09, respectively. No statistically significant differences were observed in any of the measurements (SE, UCVA and BCVA) between Visit 1 and 2 (p >0.05).
Conclusions: Both ArtIOLs® models (ArtIOLs®40-EDF and ArtIOLs®70-FVR) demonstrated excellent refractive stability and maintained visual acuity BC and UC over the long-term follow-up, with no significant changes observed in refractive outcomes or visual performance.
